Extra virgin olive oil of the Picual variety, produced in Jaén from olives harvested in November and certified under the Sierra Mágina Protected Designation of Origin.

At La Capacheta, they combine cutting-edge technology with olive-growing tradition and respect for the environment. This extra virgin olive oil is made from olives hand-picked from the renowned olive groves of Jaén and cold-pressed, ensuring that their properties are preserved to the full and guaranteeing exceptional quality.

On the nose, there is a medium fruitiness of green and ripe olives, with notes of grass, tomato and artichoke. On the palate, it stands out for its smooth and harmonious attack, with a pronounced fruity flavour that evolves into a pleasant bitterness and a slight, progressive piquancy, perfectly balanced.

Food pairing: This extra virgin olive oil is highly versatile and perfect for accompanying cheeses, cured meats, meat dishes, fish, vegetables and even desserts.

Storage instructions: Store in a cool, dry place, away from light and direct heat.

La Capacheta is a family-run business specialising in the sale of high-quality extra virgin olive oil in the Sierra Mágina, Jaén.

Its aim is to offer consumers a natural and healthy product, made from the finest olives, which are carefully selected and mechanically processed to preserve their aromas and properties, resulting in a fresh product full of nuances that enriches the culinary experience.

The name ‘La Capacheta’ pays tribute to the women of the 1960s who, through their quiet and often unseen work, made a decisive contribution to promoting the reputation of extra virgin olive oil from the Sierra Mágina and to driving the economic, social and landscape development of rural areas in southern Spain.

The production of 'capachetas' provided employment for many women, who were responsible for processing the esparto grass and making them for the oil mills. They would begin their work at dawn and deliver them in the afternoon, thereby earning a few pesetas that enabled them to contribute to the daily household income, whilst their husbands’ wages were spent on other expenses.

Recognising the efforts of those women – their courage, their constant and unassuming labour – and the path forged by the sacrifice of an entire generation leaves us with an example and a human and social commitment that must not be forgotten.

The grandmother of the person who founded AOVE La Capacheta was one of those women.
