Product information

Brand Herdade do Esporão
Variety Galega
Capacity 500 ml
Region Portugal

Organic extra virgin olive oil produced in the Alentejo region (Portugal) using olives of the Galega variety.

The harvest begins in October. This ensures that the olives are picked at their peak of ripeness, resulting in a high-quality extra virgin olive oil with a distinctive character.

The olives are received and sorted by variety at the Esporão mill just a few hours after harvesting, and are processed immediately. Extraction is carried out using the cold-press method at a maximum temperature of 24°C to preserve the properties and aromas of the varieties that characterise this extra virgin olive oil.

On the nose, it presents a light fruitiness with aromas of apple, banana and red berries. On the palate, it is velvety and smooth, with notes of fresh walnuts and a slight, fleeting spiciness.

Food pairing: This extra virgin olive oil is ideal for accompanying fruit, fish or delicate dishes, as well as for dressing cakes, chocolate mousse or ice cream.

Founded in 1973, Esporão is one of Portugal’s leading producers of extra virgin olive oil and wine. It has played a key role in raising the international profile of the Alentejo region, exporting products to over 50 countries.

Today, Esporão acts as an ambassador for Portuguese culture, operating within the bounds of sustainability and forging meaningful relationships with customers and consumers worldwide.

Esporão’s extra virgin olive oil production began in 1997, driven by a desire to apply the expertise gained in winemaking to the production of high-quality oils. Esporão currently has over 100 hectares of olive groves, with four different varieties of olives, cultivated using organic production methods.

In addition to its own production, Esporão works with over 60 local olive growers to preserve the native varieties and traditional olive groves of the Alentejo region.
