Premium extra virgin olive oil produced in Villanueva de la Reina (Jaén) from early-harvested Picual olives and certified under the Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) ‘Aceite de Jaén’.
The olives are harvested in early October and immediately taken to the mill, where the skilled work of the master millers enables the production of this olive juice. It is then bottled at the producer’s own facilities, thus guaranteeing full traceability and quality of the extra virgin olive oil produced.
Buensalud Picual is produced on the banks of the River Guadalquivir and at the foot of the Sierra Morena, a unique area where a wide variety of landscapes come together. These lands offer unbeatable conditions for the production of extra virgin olive oil with exceptional organoleptic qualities.
On the nose, there is an intense green fruitiness with notes of artichoke, tomato plant, olive leaf and alloza, evoking a stroll through an orchard surrounded by olive trees. On the palate, a slight bitterness and a pleasant spiciness stand out, characteristic of the Picual variety.
Food pairing: This extra virgin olive oil is highly versatile and pairs perfectly with tomato salads, toast, Iberian cured meats, vegetables, meat stews and grilled fish.
The quality of Buensalud Picual has been recognised at national and international level in the sector’s leading specialist competitions, such as Flos Olei, IberOleum, Olive Japan, Athena IOOC, London IOOC, Terra Olivo, New York IOOC, Los Angeles IOOC, Berlin GOOA and Expoliva. Furthermore, it has received the Mario Solinas Award, considered the most prestigious accolade in the world of extra virgin olive oil.

The Cooperativa Aceites Guadalquivir is located in Villanueva de la Reina (Jaén), a province renowned for its olive groves, situated on the banks of the River Guadalquivir and at the foot of the Sierra Morena. This privileged setting, where a wide variety of landscapes converge, means that these lands offer unbeatable conditions for the production of extra virgin olive oil of exceptional quality.
The extra virgin olive oil produced by this cooperative is mainly of the Picual variety and is marketed under the Buensalud brand. This olive oil is the result of the expertise of the 600 olive growers who make up the cooperative, and of the daily effort and dedication required to tend a traditional olive grove, resulting in a fruity flavour, a full body and a slight hint of bitterness and piquancy.
At the precise moment the fruit reaches ripeness, it is immediately transported to the modern factory of Cooperativa Aceites Guadalquivir, where the expertise of the master millers enables the production of this natural olive juice, considered the true liquid gold of Jaén, which is subsequently bottled at the producer’s own facilities, thus guaranteeing full traceability and quality of the final product.
Cooperativa Aceites Guadalquivir holds ISO 22000 certification, a food safety standard that provides customers with greater assurance.
Buensalud extra virgin olive oil bears the 'Aceite de Jaén' quality mark and has won awards at the most prestigious national and international olive oil competitions, such as Olive Japan, Athena IOOC, Flos Olei, IberOleum, London IOOC, Terra Olivo, New York IOOC, Los Angeles IOOC, Berlin GOOA and Expoliva. It has also been a finalist for the Mario Solinas Award.
