Sal de Añana

In the Salt Valley of the town of Salinas de Añana, in the Basque Country, one of the best salts in the world is produced: Sal de Añana. Its quality is guaranteed both by its artisan production and by the recognition of some of the best international chefs.

The Salt Valley is an unusual landscape in the process of recovery, made up of thousands of platforms or threshing floors, canals, wells and warehouses. The Añana Salt is the result of the natural evaporation of the brine from the springs and the way it crystallises is the result of three factors: the sun, the wind and the traditional techniques of the salt makers.

The Añana Salt is listed as a Slow Food Presidium, the highest recognition awarded by this international movement that promotes natural, ecological and quality products.
