Hand-harvested, with a thorough selection of the best bunches both in the field and upon reception. The winemaking process is ‘personalised’, with minimal intervention and sensitive to the unique characteristics of this vineyard. The wine is aged for 20 months in new and semi-new French oak barrels.
On the palate, it displays rich, structured flavours of cassis, espresso, liquorice and minerals. The core fruit is ripe, vibrant and pure. It has spicy and smoky aromas of black cherry and blackcurrant. Good structure, balanced tannins, excellent depth and beautifully concentrated with a long, textured finish.
This wine is ideal for accompanying game meats, cheeses and legumes. It is recommended to decant and serve immediately at 15-17ºC.
Marqués de Griñón™ are signature wines, created in the 1970s by Carlos Falcó y Fernández de Córdoba, who was considered the most renowned Spanish winemaker with international recognition and influence, and who was the 5th Marquis of Griñón.
Pagos de Familia Marqués de Griñón is a family-run business whose aim is to achieve excellence and a distinctive personality in the olive oils and wines it produces.
To achieve this, it relies on an ancient European tradition, the pago, which consists of producing olives or grapes separately, in situ, from an estate with uniform soil and microclimatic characteristics that characterize it as a distinct terroir.
It was Don Carlos Falcó who, from 1974 onwards, promoted this age-old agricultural tradition by giving it a new commercial dimension.
He set about making the Marqués de Griñón brand a global symbol of excellence in olive oil and wine. In fact, Pagos de Familia Marqués de Griñón has managed to position itself in the world's top lists for these two essential elements of Mediterranean food and culture.
