Organic extra virgin olive oil produced in the Alto Douro region (Portugal) with early olives of the Cobrançosa, Madural, Verdeal and Cordovil varieties from centuries-old olive trees. Certified with the Tras-os-Montes Protected Designation of Origin.
It has a golden-green colour. On the nose, it has a medium green fruitiness, with notes of olive leaf, fresh grass and green almond. On the palate, it is balanced and harmonious, with a pleasant bitter and spicy touch. It leaves a fresh and persistent sensation.
Recommendations for use: This is a very versatile extra virgin olive oil. Ideal for tomato salads, grilled vegetables and vegetable soups, as well as toast, fresh pasta or hummus. It also enhances the flavour of seafood, steamed white fish, white meats and fresh or mild cheeses.
This limited edition bottle is inspired by Portuguese tiles, their colours, lines and wear, but also by their tradition and craftsmanship. Like extra virgin olive oil, tiles are made with patience, dedication and soul. Both tell stories: of family, land, love and heritage.
Acushla's quality has been recognised in leading national and international competitions, such as Olive Japan, London IOOC, BIOL, Berlin GOOA and Azeites de Portugal, among others.
Acushla was founded in 2006 in the Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro region, where Joaquim Moreira, after extensive research into areas with high potential for extra virgin olive oil production in Portugal, found a privileged location.
Quinta Acushla estate, with 14 hectares of centuries-old olive groves and 200 hectares of young olive groves, has approximately 70,000 olive trees. When they reach maturity, the expected production of extra virgin olive oil will reach 250,000 litres, making it one of the largest organic production areas in the Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro region. In addition, they have an oil mill equipped with the most advanced technology, being the first oil mill in Portugal to be certified by FSSC 22000 (Food Safety System Certification), one of the strictest international standards in food safety.
Concern for the environment and sustainability is one of the fundamental pillars of Acushla, which is why they have opted for organic farming, in which the cultivation of olive trees is carried out with the utmost respect for the procedures established for organic production, as set out in European legislation. This production includes the use of agricultural techniques that respect natural life cycles and reduce environmental impact.
Acushla has been winning awards and recognition in major national and international competitions for two decades. They have been included in the ranking of the best extra virgin olive oils in the world and have won awards in Portugal, Italy, Greece, Germany, France, Japan, Dubai, Canada, the United States and Brazil.
