Native to Madagascar, its name comes from ‘Voa’, meaning fruit, and ‘tsiperifery’, the Malagasy name for the plant.
Malagasy village communities harvest this very rare pepper entirely by hand between June and August. Voatsiperifery pepper vines can reach 40 m in height.
