DESCRIPCTION:
Shichimi Togarashi, also known as seven-flavour chilli, is a blend of Japan's most conventional spices.
Its great peculiarity is the fusion of flavours that is created when they are all put together in the same jar. Therein lies the magic and the key to its success.
What spices make up the blend? Chili powder, black sesame seed, white sesame seed, seaweed, ginger, Japanese pepper and yuzu.
They may not mean anything to you on their own, but be warned that when added to meals, this mixture is a real talking point.
When you try Shichimi Togarashi, don't expect to detect the flavours of these spices separately. This seasoning is capable of generating its own flavour. Unique and original. It all happens thanks to its fermentation process.
It is a seasoning that goes with almost any recipe you want to add flavour to, not just Japanese ones. In fact, it goes great with salads, fish and meat, but the great Japanese chefs also use it in noodles, soups, sauces, boiled tofu and side dishes.
