Chatka was born in 1930 in the Bering Sea, north of the Pacific Ocean, near the Kamchatka Peninsula and the nearby Alaskan waters.

The impressive size and unique taste of the red king crab made it so valuable that in 1960, the Soviet Union decided to artificially introduce it into the Barents Sea to provide new catches. It soon became known the world over as "red gold".

Considered one of the world's finest seafoods, the red king crab has won international acclaim from top chefs and restaurants. It is caught in the wild and processed on board the boats themselves to preserve its properties intact.
